I started the month off with June’s colour palette. For a lot of my commercial work I’m stuck with “typical bright” [boring] colours, so I try to do something more interesting when it comes to personal work.
I draw a lot of stuff in front of the telly on a night. I’m not a massive tv fan but my other half seems unable to survive without it blaring out whenever he’s in the house. So I just draw pictures while he stares at the box. This month I drew:
Some birds…
Some buildings in Amsterdam…
And some of the new Portuguese words I learned on Duolingo…
(I even learned to string some really useful sentences together)
I also re-cycled a load of old stuff to make an illo for World Oceans Day…
A lot of my InFrontOfTheTelly drawings start off in my sketchbook. It’s not a fancy sketchbook. It’s not even sketchy. Some highbrow arty folk might even dispute the actual word “sketchbook” being applied to it. But nonetheless this is where a lot of my stuff comes from.
I also have another little book where I try do do one pic every day not using a computer…
I took my main sketchbook on my little trip to Portugal. But it was too hot. And too much fun. So I didn’t even open it. This happens to me a lot, I don’t know why I even pack it!
At the end of every month I always make a little pattern mashup…
So. That was June. Thanks for reading if you made it this far! See you next month!

So great to see a sneak peep into your sketchbook <3
I understand the blaring tv! Thanks for sharing your sketchbook - neat to see the beginnings!
